  1. Hello! Did you apply for the doctoral or master's level FNP?
  2. Woohoo! Accepted into the DNP-Family Health program now! Giving up my Master's spot, so hopefully if any of you are on the waiting list, you'll get it. See you all at orientation on the 19th hopefully!
  3. Does anyone know the approximate application vs. acceptance rate for the DNP (Family Health or just General) program?
  4. Also keep in mind that although we have deadline to answer by 04/19, one of those answers is "unsure if accepting" as well as decline. So for instance, I will be responding "unsure" as I'm waiting to find out if I'm accepted into DNP first. I'm sure there will be others who have applied for other programs at USF and at other universities who are in the same boat. Our ABSOLUTE deadline is May 1st. So spots may open up even after 4/19. Heck, even after May 1st if someone has to drop out for some reason. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
  5. As Jcort91 said, USF is a state university. Plus...I've never even heard of Hilltop, unless you're talking about San Francisco? That's the only thing that comes up in Google search that's relevant.
  6. Accepted into the MS-FNP program today! Overall GPA 3.65, USF GPA 3.91, no Bachelor's degree, graduate this semester with BSN from USF. Total of 3 years RN experience, 2.5 of which in med/surg-trauma.
  7. You can still complete FAFSA, you just won't have priority funding (meaning, you may not get your funding until after the semester starts, however, that shouldn't matter because you'll have a tuition deferrment, only part that stinks is that you'll have to pay out of pocket for books, BUT, that's only IF, they don't get to your funding in time....most likely they will). As for scholarships, as far as I'm aware, apps for nursing scholarships were due by 3/10, but I may be wrong.
  8. I interviewed on April 4th. Haven't heard anything yet. Think I did well in my interview, as they encouraged me to apply for the DNP program instead, but now I'm wondering if they'll deny me acceptance into the Masters since they want me to do DNP, AND whether the same people that interviewed me for the Master's NP-Family Health will be the same to interview me for the DNP-Family Health. Agh..so many questions now! (And yes, I'm having to do the whole app and interview process again for the DNP) :-/
  9. I was confused about that too. Like..that's some amazing Jedi skills right there.
  10. Hello all, I'm curious to find out if anyone knows of an nursing specialties that have 3 12 hour shifts, but are not hospital floor nursing or long term care. I spent my first six months of my career in a ltc facility, and the past 1.5 years in hospital med/surg. Neither are for me, and I'm beginning to worry that NO hospital bedside care is for me. However, I do enjoy the scheduling. Is it possible to have the best of both worlds? I've considered "rn supervisor-home health" but it seems that is a 9-5 job, as is school nursing (in addition, it looks like school nursing would be a pay cut). I've also though of OR or other hospital specialties, but those too seem to be 8 hour shifts plus on-call. In addition, I royally suck at IV insertions, and I don't want to be that OR nurse that can't insert an IV. Am I asking for too much? It's okay to tell me I am, I have thick skin :) I so badly want to find my niche, something that when I awake for work I'm, if not eager, at least not depressed about going to.
