How does your hospital handle staff who want to vote?
For this election I voted early using an absentee ballot. No driving to the poles, no waiting in line.
-
coming out
I've always thought that personal matters should be kept private.

When should you start looking into a job as a new grad?
Most hospitals have websites to check out. You can even look at job postings. With the job market for nurses the way it is I don't think you'll have a problem doing whatever you want.

Need Some Advise. Want to be an RN: late 30's AM I TOO LATE?
Your not too late. I graduated from nursing school at 32, but my study partner was 45. I'm sure you'll do fine with whatever you decide.
-
I just resigned my position! Would you?
I'd give the two-week notice and split.

Are you required to use "in house " cell phones??
They can charge you for damage because it's not your property. We use these phones and I like them. No more being tied to a desk waiting for a physician to call back. The ones we use can be inserted into a holder that clips to the hip. I haven't broken one yet.

Appropriate Attire for an Interview
My thought would be: just look professional. Remember, it's a job interview and not a night club.

An RN changing meds without a doctors order?
If what you say is true I'd document it with copies to your facilities administration and your state board of nursing. Again, If what you say is true she's practicing medicine without a license and could hurt someone.

Changing recruiter

I never want overtime period
Just tell them. Then disable the phone when you need to sleep.
-
Changing recruiter
I'd finish the contract and find a different company.
-
Changing recruiter
When you change recruiters you deal with the new one. You won't hear from the other recruiter anymore.
-
Changing recruiter
Call the company you work for and ask to speak to the supervisor or vice president over the recruiters and tell her/him your concerns and that you'd like another, more responsive, recruiter. I did this and received a call from my new recruiter in a matter of minutes. The competition for nurses in the travel industry is fierce.

job interview question
Sounds pretty normal to me. Most of us get nervous anticipating a job interview. Just do it anyway.
- How fast to you run a unit of blood?
-
about injections: are filters important for ampuled drugs?
I've always used filter needles when drawing from glass ampoules.
-

ADN's have a wide open job market. Good luck.
-
scrub waists
I'm looking for the scrubs that come with matching suspenders.

Personality traits suited for ER??
Variety is one of the best things about this business. If you want lots of excitment then choose a level 1 trauma center and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Or try ICU. Or work staff ED and do agency ICU. The possibilities are yours to explore. People say lots of things and some will tell you what you should do. It's OK to seek the counsel of others, but in the end you have to decide for yourself. Good luck, I'm sure you'll do fine.

Mastering ACLS, a Springhouse publication. It's a paperback too. Probably paid in the $30.00 range for it.

Would you drive 100 miles for a great job?
Used to drive 72 miles each way. Did it for 2.5 years. Pretty tough trying to stay awake for the ride home after 12 hr nights. Since I lived in the country and worked in the city you can imagine the nightmare of traffic I drove into and then tried to escape on the ride home. And if there was an accident or inclement weather the commute became exponentially excruciating. Personally, I wouldn't do it again.

Where is the nursing proffesion going?
The governments job is to protect citizens. Not provide healthcare for them. Compared to the socialized mess in France and Canada, we're doing just fine. Don't forget that healthcare is a commodity, it has a price. As for the future of nursing: it's a wide open job market.
