Professionalism....name your irritation here!
I work with a nurse who tells pts way too much. Too much about office politics as well as too much about herself. I finally told her the other day that when pts ask how she is they are being nice and don't want a rundown of her life troubles. Of course she just looked at me like I had two heads...

Is it just me, or is this rude, sexist, and condescending?
"Butt hurt"! My new favorite thing to say.

Is it just me, or is this rude, sexist, and condescending?
I would be embarassed to report something so petty.

2015 Current LPN Pay
Southern Illinois, almost 18 yrs experience, $16/hr in a Private Practice. But the Doc also pays for my health insurance and we get a hefty Christmas bonus.

Be honest, what pt behaviors do you find annoying?
My biggest annoyance are the patients who want to be sick. They want to be refered to endless specialists and want every possible test done. I really want to tell them that they are taking up time I need for people who ARE sick!

What I learned this week (7/11/15)
1. It is difficult to focus on the positive aspects of my job. 2. Sometimes, if you are lucky, Holier-than-Thou coworkers get knocked off the High Horse by their own actions. 3. It still brightens my day when a patient thanks me and means it.

Habits you picked up from work...
I always "frisk" myself when I need a pen. Then remember I'm not wearing scrubs with 10 pockets. LOL My 5 yo granddaughter washes her hands like a nurse and I love it. After using public BRs she also asks for Purell because..."maybe someone didn't wash her hands and got poop on the door". I love that kid!

Mobile scrub store
When I worked LTC the "Scrub Van" came a couple times a year. We all loved it. I hate ordering without being able to try on but live almost an hour from the nearest scrub store.

What I learned this week (7/4/15)....
I learned that being an honest, hard working employee only gets you **** on and that I need a new job.

Strange CoWorker Stories
The new office "manager" at our Practice has brought a chicken, yes a chicken, to work on two different occasions. She asked if I could get her a syringe to feed the first one. I firmly explained the difference between a nurse and a vet tech.

What I learned this week (6/27)...
This week I learned that you really should stay out of the sun when taking a round of Bactrim DS.
-
This week, I have learned..... (6/13)
Learned this week: 1. My 22 yo daughter has Marfan Syndrome. 2. That sometimes it is necessary to turn off your nurse brain in order to stay (somewhat) sane. (See #1)

BE HONEST! What part of your job do you hate?
Also last week a lady asked me if I could help her to use the restroom. I told her I'll call her CNA Perhaps the CNA had an attitude because a student wouldn't help someone to the restroom. Not saying it was right. Just a thought.

This week, I have learned... (5/30/15)
I learned that sometimes a meltdown is they only way to get your point across to some people.

Sale of Humana?
Hopefully an improvement. Humana pre-certs are the worst!

WHERE have you worked as a LPN/LVN
I have worked in a hospital (surgical floor and cath lab holding), in a Podiatry clinic, Chiropractic office, Cardiology office, LTC, and currently in a Family Practice office.

LPN certifications
I've been trying to find information on the different types of certifications available to LPNs and Google isn't helping much. Anyone care to direct me to where I can find some info? I'm in Illinois if that helps. Thanks in advance.

Do you talk to yourself?
I talk to myself all the time and so does the other nurse in our office. Our desks are next to each other and sometimes we are each talking to ourselves and each other. Our Doc thinks it's hilarious and likes to tease us about it.

"Bless Your Heart"
My very Southern grandma once told me that you can basically tell someone off and get away with it as long as it is done with a smile and a "Bless your heart". LOL
