Failed NCLEX-RN 3rd time :(
I finally passed after failing twice. I swear by Saunders, do the CD every day there are over 1000 questions, do them over and over and i love that it gave me feedback, as to why i picked the wrong question. I swear It helped me pass my third time, I was also devastated telling people I failed because I was an LPN at the time for 4 years. NO what? Screw what other people think just try your best and do NOT listen to gossipy negative people. If you passed your nursing classes you can surely pass the NCLEX. Study Saunders over and over again, Do everything on the disk and the book. Good luck to you......

Working crazy hours
I work 6 12 hour shifts in one week, and have the next whole week off...... I am lucky.... My kids are grown up so I can (Do what I want)...

I can't do this anymore
OMG find another job. I hated my previous job and thought that, this is life in nursing. I found another job and I love it. Please do not give up after all of your hard work. You do not have to like miserable, obese people for nursing. I hope the person that posted that has 10 very obese people that she has to shower "as a nurse" and then get back with me......

im hating nursing rn
I am sad that you feel "stuck". Please pick another career soon, because if I were in long term care and you were taking care of me under your own duress, I would not be happy.

Stupid Nurse Tricks (Or How To Look Incredibly Stupid)
Go into patient room, two cups, one normal saline to cleanse a wound and the second tap water for taking meds. Patient states " this water is really salty tasting" ........ nough said.... Thank goodness did not have potassium issues..

How many 12 hour shifts per week
I work 12 houer shifts, mon, tues, wed, fri, sat and sun. I have the following week off. One week on and one week off. I am so lucky!! I really do not feel burnt out on the weeks that I work. Life is what you make of it. I can have someome dying, someone with COP struggling to breath, ect.... all in one nights shift. All that I can say again is that your world is what you make it.

Fake nursing/CNA licenses or what?
Right!!!!!!!!! Mind your own business..... What kind of person would look up that information??? How about volunteer your time instead of getting into your co workers business??

Kudos to floor nurses
Hats off to long care nurses as well. They have up to 30 patients sometimes, and have to be watched constantly and many are a full code and crash constantly. Hats off to every nurse who actually takes care of patients.......

Workplace kudos mean so much
I live in Gaylord Michigan, and I had a boss that would roll her eyes at me and be rude and disrespectful and NEVER ever work the floor. But she was sure quick to criticize me at every instance that she could. I now work at another facility in Gaylord that is a ventilator unit. My new boss, works the floor a few times a month, and every time she writes a note, she always ends it with "thanks for all of the work that you do"... She is awesome, I had only worked at one facility before this and thought how horrible nursing was, but then I found a bit of heaven with awesome co-workers who were helpful. I am so darn LUCKY!!

You might be a night shifter if...

NCLEX 9/19/2012
Do all of the Cd quizzes on the Saunders cd for the Nclex. There are like 1200 questions, but they are similar to Nclex. That is what finally helped me.

NCLEX 9/19/2012
Sorry, I do not believe in God, but I hope that you have studied your butt off. God can not put info in your head through Osmosis, you have to be accountable for yourself:)))) Good Luck!!! It took me three times to pass, it was hard and frustrating, but you have to keep on fighting.

Cheesy Activities in LTC
Jo Dirt, are you new to long term care?(most) People who are in the nursing love to play Bingo and play ball and interact on a young child's level. If you try to make it more complex, like I would like at my young age of 43, the residents would be confused, they can only deal with simple things. You are so quick to complain, so please come up with some ideas of your own about what would make them happy. Also you can not just give a few gifts to only a few people. Someones feelings would be hurt if they did not get a gift.

1st nursing job, new grad LPN, 1st shift, already a serious error!!
Everyone makes mistakes, do not be so hard on yourself, you will make more. Just learn by your five ways of a med pass and let that be a personal lesson to you.

How does YOUR hospital waste its money?
If this is your main concernand you are in nursing, then you should get out. If you are curious about how the hospital spends money then you should get a job in their business department, and then you can come back and complain. The grass is always greener on the other side.

Is it hard for a 46 y/o new lpn to get hired?
I think that they are talking about experienced nurses that are argumentative, becasue they are set in their ways. New nurses in 40's are not argumentative, we are curious as to why things are they way they are.
