  1. Effectively, it's a tax cut for the wealthiest, ergo, regressive and a slap in the face to the middle classes who don't receive the same benefit from their taxes. It perpetuates the income inequality that is eroding the definition of middle class. Our Levittowns and grass yards may have monopolized American architecture but we were huge in numbers because the tax burden on the working and middle classes were spread out. The wealthiest paid much more than they do now. That was with Republican presidents who enjoyed their shining crowns as people who wanted prosperity for all..not just for their cronies. What we have now is winner take all and screw the rest of us. Eisenhower's middle of the road policies created the world's wealthiest and most employed country despite that we just came out of WWII.
  2. Your own source lists religions opposed to vaccines as doctrine. In addition Vacicnes.org ad poliifact also denote religions opposed . Pockets of ultra orthodox Jews in Israel as well as in Booklyn follow the authority of their rebbes who have not supported vaccines for their members. I have a friend's husband who left his Hasidic roots to remain merely Orthodox. He has health issues relevant to Covid. His Mom refuses to get vaxxed because she she"doesn't like authority" But, of course she is the ultimate poster child for obedience to authority since she does what her rebbe dictates.
  3. Nope. Google it. Only two religions have doctrine that forbid vaccine: Church of Christ, Scientist and Dutch Reform. But only the most evangelical DF's refuse. THE ultra-orthodox Jews also refuse. So it seems to be he fringe groups that persisting refusing. Most mainstream people who identify as evangelical answer polls that they are opposed to the vaccine but some evangelical pastors encourage their members to get it.
  4. You still have that ridiculously awful job?
  5. Forget the unit. I doubt that she will be able to work n any institution in that group. It's just a harsh reality.
  6. The very nature of science dictates that change is a constant. It's been exciting to be alive at a me when discoveries are happening at breakneck speed. I don't think that having so many scientists devoted to a single mission has happened since Sputnik. I know of no lockdown that has gone on for almost a year. What place is this? Is it on earth? I'm sorry that people are too dumb to comprehend that not much goes smoothly during a pandemic. You expect new discoveries to roll out in easy to digest little segments that give you the instant access to the question you want an answer for right now? That might control the heightened anxiety levels people are experiencing but, unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. But any idiot can read that vaccines are a huge success and the any minor side effect is meaningless compared to the side effects from Covid.
  7. You have actually witnessed this? My answer to your original post is why anyone would be entitled to harass anyone for any reason so I think this whole thread is based on a silly question.
  8. No, you don't need to reveal your vaccine status but everyone will know eventually when you can't get a job. Needless to say, patient care will be a no-no for you since we have to protect the few and far who cannot be valued. So yes, your employer has every right to know your status. Smart people will still have to mask forever unless we get 90%. That bar used to be lower until hold outs allowed even more mutations to evolve while they argue that their right to say has no effect on making it worst for everyone else.
  9. What, exactly please, is radical freedom? Is it different from freedom?
  10. OMG. You are saddened that people value health more than freedom. Are you chaneling Laura Ingraham? Really Laura, is that you? One is never free to kill in out society. Life is the highest right. Freedom is a word than is cheap and misunderstood. No one has absolute freedom. People who break the social contract are really just superfluous.
  11. Financiers are warning about a bubble. Cheap mortgages may have created a monster. Looks like 2008 all over again.
  12. We do not have the freedom to kill others. People who deliberately spread HIV are in prison...where they belong. They need their own walled state where they only have to live with each other. Let them have "total freedom." It would be Lord of the Flies within 2 days.
  13. Make vaccination mandatory for entrance to hospital. You can be cared for by your family in the Covid tent. Maybe nurses who refuse vaccination could work there postponing their eventual firings. My dream.
  14. He was not the " literal inventor" of mmRNA but he does wear the tin hat.
  15. If they can't be shamed into vaccination then society will just move on to mandates and vaccine passes. I've read that some of the previously resistant in the usual culprit states are now requesting shots. Why should these people be allowed to cause such suffering and expenses for the rest of us?
  16. I have no idea what your last two sentences mean. Sarcasm is really difficult to translate into posting so I would recommend that you say what you mean and you mean what you say. Even emoticons would help. And I don't mean the horse example which is perfectly clear.
  17. RQ, loved the graphics in this article. I recommend The Premonition to everyone. Michael Lewis writes about the original pandemic team of 2005 (Trump dismantled but some of his advisors used them behind his back) and how the concept of social distancing was derived.
  18. Lipid nanoparticles have been used for years now in local anesthetics and we've not heard from any laboring mothers with the gardening hose in their backs that future babies have suffered any abnormalities. We know that the mRNA dissipates upon administration as soon as the vaccine arrives in the muscle. I would also like to the date of the BMJ article. There were many conjectures made earlier in the pandemic that have gone away because they proved not to be relevant in real wold conditions. I'm OK with unvaccinated people as long as they don't leave their houses.
  19. Ouch! I accidently liked this by mistake. The story is the same quality as the stock photo. How did this even get printed in the first place? Somebody didn't do their due diligence vetting their source.
  20. 3.8 BILLION vaccine doses have ben given in the world. That speaks for itself. Do you believe you are being lied to about it's safety? If you believe that the entire world collaborated to keep the truth from you, well that's just entering the Twilight Zone.
  21. Wait a minute. I can't follow your logic here. Yes, you are right ((somewhat) that no one knows how long vaccine immunity will last" but what does that have to do with not wanting the vaccine because you already had Covid? And you are also somewhat correct that you do have some immunity after infection. However , how do you know if it will last 3 months, 6 months or longer? How will you know when it's gone? The fact is that we don't have a test for public use that is accurate enough to market so it's not like we can monitor it ourselves. Your elderly aunt or anyone else may have a side effect because they didn't know they had Covid recently before getting the vaccine. These folks can have an exaggerated inflammatory response and if they are physiologically aged and fragile, that's a problem. Fortunately you are retired and can lay low forever, but the question would be more complicated if you were still doing patient care. If anyone came to my house and told me they weren't vaccinated, I wouldn't let them in because I have a small house and couldn't stay far enough away and Delta is in my community. Good luck with that post-Covid immunity. If you were sick enough to have pneumonia it is likely to last longer since uou were so sick.
  22. All of the positions you have listed require experience with the exception of 1...the OR. If you are techy, it is the place for you since you will have to troubleshoot problems but there is a lot of time on the computer.
  23. We put all sorts of crap on or into our bodies every day. I wouldn't call you selfish for not taking it but, at this point, I would call you ignorant or in the wrong job for a germaphobe:) The vaccine is an incredible step for mankind. And we aren't talking about a vaccine for acne. Covid, at his point, is an uncurable disease that will only linger as unvaccinated people expose everyone to more dangerous mutants. Worldwide pandemic is an unusual killer that requires unusual answers. Would you take it if you were guaranteed that a body part might fall off? If the answer is yes then think of Covid as a destroyer of brain, heart and respiratory tissue that may or may not ever be repaired. No one wants to take something new but we did it to stay intact because health care people were subjected to high viral loads at work. At this point, I don't think you have a valid case against it...whether you want to work with patients or not.
  24. IRN is a Fox News in Israel. It is a religious right publication not dependent on anything factual. First question I asked was Hmmm. How does that article conform to the science since it is antithetical to what real live studies tell us? Research is really hard, but measurement of antibody titres between the vaccinated and the unvaccinated is pretty easy and it's been done already. When one "study contradicts every other, be skeptical. Praise Jesus that only 20% of Israel are zealots or they would have been wiped of the map by now.
  25. If it's HCA, stay away. Good mantra to live by. We are doing an awful PR job for our "profession" by not making it public knowledge when hospitals become dangerous. We behave like quiet little hit dogs being cranked out on the assembly line. We also need to recruit more men.
