Primary Care experience and PNP

Specialties NP

Published

I recently started my master's in a primary care PNP degree part-time (it'll take me 3 years) while working full-time in a pediatric primary care office. Before working in the office, i worked for a year on an adult medical-surgical floor. I love what I'm doing now, but am nervous that it won't help prepare me to be a PNP. I don't have a lot of direct patient contact - ht, wt, immunizations, throat cultures and blood are it. I feel like some of my peers in the hospital see much more and will have better patient assessment skills than I will, thus being more prepared to be a PNP. Any input? Thanks.
