Preparation for Nursing School Tips

Published

Hello All,

This is my very first time posting. I am taking my pre-reqs for Nursing School right now and only have one more semester to go. I will be done with pre reqs in May. I won't apply for Nursing School until next January of 2017. The Nursing program here does not start until the summer of 2017. So, (if I get in) I will have one year to prepare myself. I'm fortunate enough to not have to work. I have a great support system (thank God).

My question to you is: What things can I do in this year to help prepare me mentally? What books would you suggest? I LOVE reading. Should I be a CNA? Whatever advice you have that you believe would benefit me I would appreciate it!!

Take a portion of the time off to relax, recoup, and mentally de-stress. Ask the nursing department at the school you'll attend for the best-practice of getting a hold of the syllabus and reading list for your 1st semester classes. Try to get those as early as possible. That will allow you to start organizing based on reading schedules, exam dates, etc.
