Just wondered if anyone thought any of the CRNA schools had a preference for students who finished their BSN from their own school. Or, does anyone think there may be a bias against an all-online school, do they seem to prefer a more traditional route? This is NOT to suggest that online grads are any less, just wondered if it mattered to the admitting folks!! :typing

As far as I have seen through this site and have heard from others, there is no bias against having completed an online BSN. As long as the school is accredited there should be no issue there. On account of having finished a BSN from the school's program, that may factor in somewhat. However, I think that as long as your credentials are up to par, you should be able to get an interview and have the opportunity to sell yourself.

You need to check with individual programs to see what their policies are regarding online BSN completion. I think overall it is gaining acceptance, but there are still programs that won't even look at you. I worked with a guy who did his LPN to ADN online, then did his BSN at a "mortar and bricks" school--some schools would not even take a look at him because his ADN was online even though the higher degree came from the brick-and-mortar school. Let's face it, everyone knows that online courses can produce hyper-inflated GPA's--that does not mean they are all bad or that a good GPA can't belong to a good student--it's just that some CRNA programs have gotten burned with students that were not up to par. I emailed like 15 program directors in 2004-05 about the matter and most said flat "no way." There is hope: my co-worker with the online ADN in his pedigree got into SUNY Buffalo and is in his 2nd year (SUNY is a great school too). I have read plenty of postings on here from others who have done it too. JUST CHECK THE SCHOOLS YOU ARE INTERESTED IN FIRST
