I start as a pre-nursing student in the fall of 2011 at University of Missouri-Kansas City, and I'm so happy! I've been shadowing medical doctors, nurses and CNAs for the past five months through this program at my high school and I'm happy to finally be entering college. Just had a few questions for pre-nursing students, nursing students and current nurses..1. Did anyone attend UMKC or attending UMKC now? 2. Does anyone have any good recommendations for nursing school entrance test prep books? 3. What was your hardest nursing class? 4. Any other tips or advice that you may have for a pre-nursing/nursing student?
I am going to try my ABSOLUTE hardest to achieve a high GPA my first year of college, since my school only admits 80 students a year.
This post is basically seeking advice :) Thanks!

Hello! First: CONGRATULATIONS!!
I am from NC finished with my BSN, RNnearly one year ago I worked as a Peer Academic Leader for freshmen nursing majors at my uni, so I would be glad to offer a few suggestions
-take as many 50 min classes as possible (you actually pay attention for most of the lecture, attention span starts to decrease after the 30 min mark) that way when you review notes you would be surprised how much you actually recall
-take at least 15 min to review notes for each class everyday (with the exception of 1 down day :) By the time it comes to exam day you will be extremely familiar with the information from the beginning. (when you arrive a little earlier to class, pull out some notes and read through em) Make your class days like a work day, this is your work be at work full time :)
-Be organized, my suggestion: each class has a color, on exam dates= highlight the day, makes it tough to "forget"
-Find out who is smart and make study friends with them, we all have strengths and weaknesses.
I am sure there are tons more, enjoy the people you will meet, friendships that will be created, and its not a bad thing to go see professors during their office hours for help! Remember you are paying them!!
Best of luck
