Pre-eclampsia project: providing blood pressure cuffs for patients upon discharge.

Published

Hi everyone!

I am a floor nurse who is part of the HTN QAPI at a community TX hospital. I volunteered to help find a way to provide blood pressure cuff to patients upon discharge. Our population would be patients who have difficulty paying for a blood pressure cuff on their own: our limited prenatal care, OBed drop in patients or patients who experience financial difficulties with access to care and resources. The goal of our project is to increase HTN awareness and to help our community in terms of improving equity among the more challenged families.

Please let me know if you work in a hospital that has a program set up to provide blood pressure cuffs to patients who cannot afford them. We looked into trying to reach out to pharmacies and see if doctors could prescribe the cuffs but it seemed to lead to a dead end. Thank you for taking the time to read my post! Have a great day!
