Postponed interview....indefinitely or not??? Help!

Published

So, I just got my license two weeks ago and have been applying for jobs like crazy. I moved after graduation, so I am applying in a new place with no connections or clinical experiences in local hospitals, etc. Anyway, I called a nurse recruiter about 12 days ago and she said she wanted to set me up with an interview for last Tuesday. Then, the day before, on Monday, she called and said the specific recruiter that I was to interview with had a family emergency and so my interview would have to be postponed. I was understanding and told her I was flexible to whatever she needed. She emailed me some online forms to fill out in the meantime and she said she'd call the next day to reschedule, and would try to get me in for the interview that same week (last week).

Well, then she never called me back! I figured it had to do with the recruiter being out for her emergency and so I didn't call and harrass anyone about it. I just waited...until Friday, three days later. I called in the afternoon and left the woman who had scheduled my interview a message casually asking if she had any updates about my rescheduling and expressing my concerns that everything was okay with the recruiter. I left my number for her to call me back. Well, here it is Wednesday...the third business day since I called, and I still haven't heard back. What should I do now? I'm worried they will never call me back, but I am trying to avoid calling them for fear of appearing hasty and pushy and ruining any chance that may still exist. I mean, I had an interview!!!!!!! Ugh!

Hey there, IMHO I would keep calling. I do not believe it's considered 'pushy' to do so. It shows that you are highly interested and are not willing to give up. I finally got an interview for today after calling every single day for almost a week and leaving messages...'Hi, this is so-and-so just following up...am excited about this opportunity...feel free to call me at any time....' Do you have an email address? I would try any way I could to get ahold of someone! Squeaky wheel gets the grease! Good luck :)

Thanks! So, I called this morning, she answered and I asked her if I could reschedule. She said, "Oh yeah, what did we have you scheduled for?" LOL Then she scheduled me for next Wednesday. Guess you were totally right! If I hadn't called again, I would have never gotten my interview back! Now, I just have to worry about getting the job!

Good girl. Proud of you :) Now, knock them out and shine like a star!
