Positiong Devices (operating room)

Published

Has anyone else noticed that positioning devices, particularly in the OR are heavy and difficult to use?

There is so much going on in the industry of designing medical devices- but they seem to be making all the electronic ones look cool and sleek.

Does anyone else think that more care should be going into the engineer and design of patient positioning and making those easy for the nurses to carry around and lock in place, particularly on the OR table?

For me, the arthroscopic knee holder is the most troublesome. Its one of the heaviest devices and I saw another nurse try to remove it from the table, but the patients leg was still secured in the device!

Lets hear your pet peeves. Which is the best and worst device? Do you have a favorite company? What do you wish could be changed? (besides a robotic arm that just positions the patient..haha)
