Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi,

I'm sure this has been asked and answered numerous times, but I was just wondering what you guys thought.

I have a B.A. in journalism, but because I was "too social" in college I only graduated with a 2.8 GPA. Now, four years later, I'm married with two little children, and I really want a career change. I've always been interested in nursing, but the university I went to (BYU) has a super competitive nursing program. So I never tried to get in.

Now I live in Texas (Plano) and really, really, really want a second career. I looked at my options, which are either going to a CC to get my ADN or start all over at a university to get my BSN. My end goal would be to get my masters. Should I go for my associates and then look for a masters program that will take me because I already have a B.A.? Or would it be smarter to get my BSN? I really want to work at some point soon, so starting all over again at a 4-year-college isn't really what I want to do. Plus, almost all universities around Dallas require at least a 3.0 GPA for previous school work. But I worry with the economy that I won't find a job with an ADN.

What do you guys think?

Never mind, I just found a thread answering my questions. :) Sorry, I'm new to this site.
