How do you improve an experiment

Ex a group of kids want to count snowflakes at a certain time period. they would use a black container 1 cubic cm. how can you get an accurate number

I would probably calculate the weight of single snowflake (rough estimate ) then weigh canister empty then after time interval simple algebra.
