start at the right (the longest chain down on right)
start counting from the bottom ch3 (as #1) then go up to ch (#2) has ch3 attached
#1 = ch3
#2 = ch has ch3 (methyl)
#3 = ch2
#4 = ch has ch2-ch3 (ethyl)
#5 = ch2
#6 = c (that has ch2-ch3 going up and down)
#7 = ch has ch3
#8 = ch2
#9 = ch3
therefore 2&7 are di(meaning 2) methyl
4,6,6 tri (three of them) ethyl
and
nonane because there are 9 in the chain.
