Hi Everyone,

I'm new to all nurse and this is my first post. I'm an Australian NICU RN with 12 years experience. I'm currently trying to decide about moving over to the UK to work. I've just browsed through the NMC website and noticed that they have changed the requirements of gaining registration.

I'm kicking myself that I didn't lodge my paperwork months ago. So I'm tring to figure out exactly what I need to do. I'm going to have to complete the 20 days protected learning, which is no problem, but I'm hoping someone can shed some light on what the 3 months of supervised practise entails? I've only done NICU for many years and the thought of having to general adult nursing daunts me!!! Can I chose what area I do my practice in?

The thought of unpaid work is also going to be a bigh factor, it means saving up enough income to live off for those 3 months. Also can I combine the protected learning with the supervised practice to save some time? If anyone can help me out I'd be most grateful

The supervised practice for "old commonwealth" nations is very new, like in the past month. We don't have any information on it yet as far as I'm aware...I got my license last year and am so glad I did.

Continental Travel Nurse told me that it would be a paid internship, though, so I would check on that.

Sorry not to be of much help. If you do get to that stage, let us know how it goes so others can learn from your experience.
