Hi everyone. I am cramming for an exan on Heparin protocol and have a question. When you are calculating the bolus and setting infusion rate, Is the number in millimeters per hour always a whole number ?for example if I calcualted 19.8 m/l do I set it at 20? Also when calculating a weight in kilos for ex 180lb. I get 182.8 kg do I round it to 183? Im confused beacuse the book says rounfdit by 10 kilos. Im so scared beacuse for heparin protocol if you start it off wrong meaning finding out the weight in kilos and your weight is wrong, then the bolus and infusion rate will all be wrong can anyone help me on rounding? thanks so much Donna

You need to ask your teachers about this. Every school/teacher seems to have a differant rule. I would email them tonight and if you do hear back by tomarrow call them at home.
