Please - what is the diff between non-separation and rooming-in?

Published

What is the difference in these two plans? I ask all moms in my admission assessments if they have specific plans including these two, and if asked, I would like to be able to tell them how they are different!

Thanks!

I am not sure as i have not heard of the term non-seperation but i could take a guess at it:

could it be that nion seperation means that the babe and mom are not seperated AT ALL, even for assessment, vit K bath etc... (unless medically indicated) and rooming in is simply after all that is done the babe is in the room with mom but not as strick no seperation rules?

Let me know when you find out

I agree. Rooming in, is simply keeping baby in your room for your stay, but baby could go to NSY for assessment and testing. Non separation, to me, would mean bedside transition and assessments.
