I honestly don't think it would be that difficult...two years experience would look a lot better, but my unit would definitely snap you up (unfortunately not in TX). We have a couple awesome nicu nurses who first started in picu, and we cross-train Picu nurses to float to nicu. Good luck!! :)
I'm still anxiously awaiting to hear back about my interview!! I made the mistake of not asking when I would hear back/how many people they were interviewing!! I sent a thank you email and received a response saying "Nice to meed you too!" and "please stay tuned" How long does it usually take after an interview to hear back? Is the reply email a good sign, or just a simple response? Again, any comments are greatly appreciated! :)

Hello all!!
I am a 1st yr RN currently working in the PICU of a children's hospital. I went to nursing school with dreams of becoming a NICU RN, however could not pass up the oppurtunity to work in the PICU on day shift right out of school. ( I was offered NICU on nights at a different hospital). Now having been in PICU for almost a year, I know now more than ever that I want to internally transfer to NICU. I applied for an open position for NICU III and was emailed back later that HR had forwarded my resume to the hiring department for that unit. The email said to be patient as certain units take longer to respond than others. My question is, how long is average to hear back from the hiring department for an interview? It's been two weeks now and I'm afraid that means that I have not been selected for an interview. any opinions on this? Also, Does anyone have any advice on how to transfer from PICU to NICU. Any comments would be greatly appreciated!!
