PICC LINE RN's

I am the new manager of a hospital based PICC line insertion team. Are there any other RN's out there with a similar position? I would like to find out how your team operates and try to come up with answers to problems I'm encountering.Any information would be welcome.

Feel free to e-mail me and I will be happy to answer any questions. FOr now I think the key is an aggressive assessment program I developed one and it has increased our PICC insertions.

Lauretta: I put together and organized a PICC team in our hospita. As you say there are many problems. I managed our team for 5 years. It is currently under Radiology and is very successful. The problems ranged from staffing, equipment, quallity insurance, follow up and many more. I guess I would need to know what specific problems you are experiencing to give you any help or receive pointers from you. Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]

I also place picc lines and we do about 75-100 per year in our first 2 years(2 person team). we currently place our picc lines without u.s. but want to start using u.s. as our I.R. while supportive are not overly excited about placing picc lines. I need more information about the FACT the modified seldinger technique is beneficial to the patient, is becoming one of the normal/standards of practice, and beneficial to the hospital. States have different nurse practice acts and accountability. I would greatly appreciate any info that others have in the placement of picc lines so that our patients do not have to go to I.R. I am currently (seriously) looking at the site-rite 5 as the u.s. to help us with the task. Any help is welcomed.:smokin:

Note sure how old your message is, but I can offer some info if you still need it.
