Physics questions on NLN PAX-RN

Hello!

Has anyone taken the PAX-RN recently? I'm studying to take it in November, and I'm a little worried about the physics part. The thing is, I have two study guides - one is the Flashcard book from REA and the other is the NLN study guide from Jones and Bartlett. The flashcard book has sample questions that require you to memorize pretty advanced formulas, specific heat, free fall acceleration, gravitational potential energy!!! Then I look at the NLN study guide practice questions, and there it seems you need to know physics concepts but not solve complex word problems with wild formulas you have to memorize. Formulas I haven't seen in 15 years!

Please someone tell me that the physics questions on the actual test are similar to the NLN guide sample questions??? Thanks!

I just took my NLN pax exam last Saturday morning, and luckily it was done on the computer so I received my results instantly. I was SO worried about how I was going to do, as I found out that my acceptance and scholarship was based on the test and was given only 3 days to study! I over-nighted the NLN's study guide and pretty much just skimmed through that, and did a few of the practice tests.

I practiced math A LOT since I hadn't taken a math class in almost ten years - and probably haven't done math without a calculator in fifteen years! I also reviewed the physics heavily since that was never a strong point of mine.

I ended up doing fairly well (I think, I am not too sure on what is considered good or bad with this test.) My composite score was 141, math percentile was 99, and verbal and science both fell in the 80s range (can't remember exact numbers off the top of my head.)

I really think I would have done awful without that study guide!!! If you do the math practice sections multiple times you will do great! The science was difficult, as it had more physics questions than the study guide anticipated and the verbal was pretty much verbatim the study guide.

100% Right! I only used the book and the CD and the study guide matched the test exactly!

Thanks for the responses! I feel so much better now. I actually tried posting a reply before, but it didn't seem to take, so sorry if it duplicates!

I think the Flash Card book I have is also supposed to prep you for the TEAS and some other tests, so I'm kinda really glad I'm taking the NLN PAX instead! I just wish it was over already, so I can know if I'm in or not. I think my school makes you wait for the results by mail, which is going to make me nuts!
