Permacath insertion

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any experience of permacath insertion?

My mother recently passed away due to (in my opinion) an incompetent doctor. She had suffered from multiple myeloma for 4 years and was continuing treatment. The permacath was seen as a good way to ensure treatment was given effectively.

There are many issues I have about the procedure being done and many thigs I am unhappy about. I was with my mother whilst she had the procesure done and was horrified when she started to say to the doctor that she was in pain (which he didnt seem to react to) shortly after my mother was VERY distressed, gasping for breath and begging as she couldnt breathe. This happened after the guidewire had been inserted but whilst the Dr was inserting the actual permacath.

As a result my dear mom suffered respiritory failure, was resussed and taken to intensive care where she remained until her death 11 days later.

I am pursuing this with the hospital concerned obviously but I wold like some professional help regarding possible problems that can occur during this procedure. Apparently the Resp failiure occured due to her neck bleeding into her neck cavities and crushing her trachea.

I am devastated as I have lost my mom/best friend and want to make sure that I am correctly informed on this procedure.

Many thanks.
