You have to start somewhere, if you attend a community college you will have to take entrance exams determing placement in math and english courses. Grades do not necessarily make a good nurse-there were many people that attended school with me who could quote the book and made A's on all their tests but were terrible in clinicals and with patients. If you are truly concerned take the ASN-and continue with your four year degree afterwards. I would also suggest you apply for a per diem job in a hospital and do externships during your time in school. Most 2 year programs take 3 due to waiting lists. Good luck in your endeavors, whatever you decide-do your best.

I'm not too sure as to what your concerns are. Your post seems to go from your grades to people, you feel, are not worthy of getting into NS before you.
Which ever route you go (ASN or BSN), math is critical. Do you need to know calc or trig? No. You will have to be able to do proportions, fractions, simple algebra, decimals and conversions. The ablilty to be able to use these skills are critical in dosage calculations. My program tests us before and after each semster and we are required to be 100% accurate on these tests. If this is a weakness of yours, I suggest getting some help studying.
My school does not have a waiting list. They choose the best 100 out of 900 canidates that apply per year. These canidates are chosen with the following criterial; their Nursing Entrance Exam score (Reading, Math) and also their most recent science score (Bio, A&P). You should apply to more than one school.
Hope this helps. Good luck and God Bless.
