Hi,
What a time consuming undertaking. I wish ya luck! We usually discard 1-2cc of blood with blood draws. As far as dilution of medications, our pediatric hospital has it's own formulary with guidelines for dilution and administration time, along with dosages. Prior to that we used the Harriet Lane Handbook. I think they still print those every year...does anyone else know? They have a ton of useful information.

Hi Julie,
very sorry for not getting back to you sooner. It probably would be a looooonggg drawn out process to get a copy of the formulary we use. I would suggest using the Harriet Lane Handbook, we used it for years. Our formulary is actually a book, about the same size as the Harriet Lane, with a lot of the same information. :)

I am trying to update policies and procedures for our general peds floor. I need information on blood sampling(ie how much waste from lines), antibiotic therapy (ie dilution and method of administration) and any other information you find especially helpful.
