Pediatric Office NP adding Newborn Nursery Rounds

Published

Hi,

I am a new NP working in the midwest at an outpatient pediatric office that is connected to a small community hospital. My current hours at Mon-Fri 8-5 salaried $88,500 with an annual bonus of 1-10% based on overall organizational productivity. It is only me and one pediatrician in the office and currently, she covers the nursery every day Mon-Fri and then the weekend and emergency coverage 2 weeks on/ 2 weeks off.

My supervisor would like me to start covering newborn nursery rounds every 2 weeks Sat through Sunday with NO emergency coverage. This would mean I would come in before the clinic opens to see the babies. We typically have a pretty low census in the nursery, usually 1-5 babies. My question is, what do you think is a reasonable amount to ask for in terms of salary increase for this additional coverage? Again, this would be every 2 weeks 7 days a week of normal newborn nursery rounding with no emergency coverage. Thanks!!
