PCT on ortho floors

Published

I interviewed today for a position as a PCT on the ortho floor of our local hospital, 7p-7a weekends. I believe I aced the interview, it really helped that I worked at the same hospital several years ago. However, I worked in the cardiac step down unit then, so ortho is a HUGE difference.

As ortho nurses, what do you guys need from your techs? What makes an outstanding tech? I know positioning, especially of hip replacements is a HUGE deal, what else? I am a pre-nursing student but I want to focus on being the best PCT I can right now. Thank you all for your wisdom!

Specializes in LTAC.

I work in ortho as a nurse and I just want a tech who does their job without complaining. As far as for ortho specific I want to know they will help me with the post op patients such as vitals and making sure pt gets to eat and drink.
