PCNP verses ACNP... HELP!

Published

Im looking for insight into NP programs. I was gun-ho on an adult gerontology program until further realizing it was categorized as primary care AGNP. Upon further search, I now understand that the AGNP has been sub categorized into acute verse primary???

A little background, I am a Chemo infusion nurse who loves the field of oncology. My goal upon completion of my NP is to further work within the field and treat this population of people.

Downfall!! There are 3 programs in my area. A masters PCNP at one school. A masters FNP at another. Or a DNP AGNP at another. I do not have access to a ACNP program

Now. I am not interested in peds. May aspire to a dnp later down the road and prefer the masters route at this point so that leaves me with the PCNP?

Im just nervous that this type of NP is going to leave me limited. My interest is not in the primary physicians care setting. Is there flexibility with where this will get me?

Im very confused and don't want to choose the wrong path!
