the PAX-PN test

Published

I took the National League for Nursing PAX-PN test a few days ago to get into LPN classes that thake the top 25 scores that are atleast 100.

I scored a 134 on mine, I was wandering what was some other peoples scores that have gotten into nursing classes. The lady at the community college said that most people on average score in the 120s, and thinks that I will get in. I wont find out until the first of next month on whether im in or not and Im not a patient person, if I knew it would be easier.

My percentiles were pretty good in math i was the 97 percentile which means I dont better than 97 percent of ppl who have taken the test but my verbal and the science was in the 70 percentile.

I suck at the verbal comprehension stuff on reading and getting main ideas but mostly the part where you have a word (dictionary word) and then have to decipher the meaning which Im not a person that uses the words like taciturn, I just stay silent by nature instead of the hard meaning, lol.

the science was horrible it was mainly talking about health related things like a nurse should know not someone taking the test.

I hope I did well on it and want some feedback.

I know that this is probably not the answer that your looking for but maybe it will give you a little reassurance. I had to take an entrance exam to get in to the nursing program that I went through- I unfortuanatly don't remeber alot of the specifics, but you sound like you might have some brains. Your numbers are above average so be proud of that. I would not consider myself a natural book smart kinda gal- I worked my butt off to get through nursing school. School never did come easy for me, and despite this I was able to get in the program of my choice and graduate, AND the most important- I knew my stuff well enough when I did that I passed my licensure exam with flying colors so to say. So as someone that is not a natural book worm that made it through- I am sure that you will do just fine. And be confident and proud- your scores were amazing! Goodluck- and never quit trying.

thanks. I got in a LPN program 2 years ago and placed 3rd out of 24 people but i took the NET nursing entrance test for that. There was a lot of things going on so I had to quit after about a month, just too much going on.

I also took a test to get in one the same year and placed higher than a friend of mine and yet you had to interview and I had issues with one of the interviewers so I placed last on the waiting list for that program and my friend got in yet my score was more than 40 pts higher than hers and that was the NET test also. They were extrememly biased at that one though, u cant interview someone and tell whether they should be in or not.

thanks for the reassurance, i know it takes a lot to get through LPN classes and as far as learning so fast i was told it was harder on you than to do the RN classes. The way the economy is, I figured that I better try to get this and focus since I will now have help with my child and could study.

I did very well in school but always hated being confined to a desk all day and nothing but studying, but I think this will pay off very well and could always get a job no matter where we move, even if its out of the US, which we have been debating on Australia:) I am wanting to get through and pass the licensure test and do the travelling programs for a few years and then stick with a childrens hospital like st. judes since Im about 2 hrs from memphis.

thanks
