Patient to staff ratio

I work in a LTC facility in Oregon, we staff 45 patients to one RN and 15 or more to one CNA, it is impossible to get any work done or any patient needs met. And if one little thing goes wrong I am hours and hours behind. The other night I was the only LPN in the whole building, no RN at all! The sad thing is my facility is expecting state to come any day for a survey. I was wondering if anyone knew of any laws on patient to staff ratios in Oregon or were I can find this information.

I also work in oregon - as an RCM. Staffing ratios for res to cnas are:

Days - 10 to 1, Eves - 15 to 1, Nights - 25to 1. These ratios are outlined in the Oregon Administrative Rules. As far as nurses go, I dont believe that there are any set rules - just that an RN has to be in the building 8 hrs a day between 700 and 2300 seven days a week. This is also in the administrative rules. Good luck with survey!

the first place i worked at I had about 12 but sometimes 13 or 14. Mind you these are skilled clients or alzheimers patients who are hard to care for anyhow. the second place i worked at as a cna i had about 10 on eves and 8 on days and this was when we were staffed good which wasn't often. most of the time i had about 16 on both days and eves and occasionally all 32 to care for. a girl in my class said that can't be possible and i told her go get a job there and find out for yourself. our staffing sheets seldom reflect who actually showed up for work and on time that shift. or people that came but left early. we had frequent call offs, some for good reasons but some just felt they had better things to do. most of the times i missed were due to either illness or true pain/exhaustion from the day before. i hurt my back and still get pain occasionally even after almost 2 months of not working there. i'm going to nursing school and working part time in a deli. i just hope i find a job as a nurse and that it has been worth it and i like what i do and have a good life finally.
