Pathophysiology and Pharmacology at same time?

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

Hi everyone,

I am currently taking my prereqs in the online classes at UTA. I have taken everything else except for Pathophysiology and Pharmacology, which I will be registering for soon. In a document I was reading about registering, it said that it is "highly recommended" not to take these 2 classes at the same time. This was really a bummer for me to hear, because that was my plan! :( Anyway, I was just going to see if anyone here had taken either of these 2 classes, and if you thought it would be possible (or terrible) to try to take them together?

Thanks so much for your input!

Elizabeth

I would suggest taking pharm first and then patho.

I did it the other way and it makes much more sense to not do what I was advised to do.

Specializes in ICU, CCU, Neurology.

UTA would not allow me to take these 2 classes together. I was also advised by a current student who has completed both to not take these together.

I was allowed to take both classes together. I will say that it takes a lot of dedication and hard work to make a decent grade in both classes. I was working full time and taking medical terminology and intro to nursing at the same time as well. I made an A in Pharm and a B (89.98- damn it I wish they rounded up) in Patho. Honestly, if these are the only two classes you're taking, you might be able to pull it off; it all comes down to your own personal work ethic. Good luck with your decision!
