Pathophysiology course

where in the program does this course fall? Have they had micro & other pre-reqs already? Patho and Pharmacy together seems a bit much. I don't have any advice, but I can see that those two together would be a lot for most students. Have you considered nurse preceptors who can tutor for credit on their clinical ladder or in exchange for financial credit towards a course?

Not sure if you can help me, but I saw you stated you teach a patho class and I wanted to know if I could ask you a few questions? I have to write a paper on any pathophysiology topic I want and wondering if I did something like HPV would this work? Also how woould I set up the paper? If you could let me know or help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hmmm... I'm in patho now. I was required to take micro as a pre req. I'm also in my second semester of A & P and have finished all of my chem courses and nutrition.

All of the prior info has helped A LOT. If I hadn't had micro or a semester of A and P... and chem behind me, Patho would be really difficult.

Patho is a lot of new info but more than that it's a lot of new application of old info.

So, pre-reqs *and good grades in them!* - I would think, would be a big deal.

You mention that you use Lewis for Med-Surg. In my view... especially on the baccalaureate level, a text specific to patho is a good idea. There could be (should be) readings assigned in the A&P book they used, plus Lewis, plus the patho book. I like Copstead, but there are lots of good ones out there.

A good patho book is what you really need. I am currently looking into a new patho book for my class, I really like the lay out of Braun's Pathophysiology: a clinical approach (978-1-60547-304-8). It has case studies, nice pictures, I find it more applicable for nurses. I also use Karch's: Focus on Clinical Pharmacology, i like the lay out, pics, etc... 978-0-7817-8982-0). The key is a very good book, that has good applicability.

Why is this an important topic, What is the patho of this disease, how does the treatment/prevention work, based on the patho of the disease. use pictures, good reputable sources.
