Passing NCLEX-RN first time with 75 questions

Published

Hello!

First of all I want to thank allnurses.com for the help I got. Like somebody said it, it is possible! I passed my NCLEX with 75 questions. My NCLEX experience may have some similarity with the rest but I just want to share how I prepared for my NCLEX. Three weeks before my scheduled test day, I did 150 questions with 75 questions block each day using my NCLEX 4000 CD, thanks to my classmate who lent it to me for free. I was getting scores with a range of 50-70%. I wasn't happy about it.

So I decided to enroll Kaplan classroom review because I prefer listening to a real person. I didn't buy the actual book because the package came with an ebook. Anyway, I did 90% of the Qbanks with a score range of 30-72 :( . I was skeptical of my performance. I did all the Qtrainers and I got all scores less than 60. I was getting stressed out. So I would go back and review the answers to the Qbanks both correct and wrong and then I did a LOT of content reading up to 1am because my profile showed that's where I needed improvement. The next morning I would listen to the lecture on demand on specific topics where I got low scores and then take Qbanks on those topics. I was doing 100-150 questions a day in addition to 150 questions with NCLEX 4000. I mastered my labs, electrolytes, EKG readings ( I took ACLS before graduating), age development, immunization schedule from Hogan comprehensive review for NCLEX-RN and a lot of prayers for my personal enrichment.

On the day before the test, the temptation to open my computer but I read in allnurses.com threads saying don't do it which I complied. I went to check my testing center and did some grocery and shopping. Exam day June 19, 2013, I got to the testing center, an hour early and did all the ID requirements. During the test, I remember my review teacher telling us to take out time, accuracy versus speed. So I took my time. I took a break after the 60th question. Outside I wasn't feeling so sure about my test, the questions were hard! When I got back in, the theme of my questions changed. I made sure that my answers on my last 10 questions were correct. After pressing send on my 75 question the computer shut off and I was vomiting and teary eyed in the bathroom. But I made it!

So to all who are about to take the test, I wish you good luck! I hope my experience will give you an insight.

Lucky u .... Congrats
