Alright guys i made a promise to myself that once i passed the NCLEX i was going to donate all my study books to people from my college and make a post on here about what i did to pass. A little background about me, i am a C student with great clinical skills and a very poor test taker. never worked in the medical field and barely passed school. i even failed a class. i was told by a few teachers to set money aside for a couple of nclex tries. i use to read way too much into questions and i seriously sucked at test. So i came up with a plan and when i took the nclex i felt the nclex was nothing. one point i called the test proctor over because i was afraid it wasnt the right test. (by no means bragging i seriously suck at test taking) here is what i did for a month.
160 Questions a day, i used Uworld, La-charity, Kaplan and Nclex mastery (all are very hard and rationales are good). i felt saunders, nclex 3500, exam cram and mosby were too easy. I finished around 5000 questions. You have to read the rationale though.
Core content review for 4 hours a day, i used Saunders 6th ed book, Hurst book, and Kaplan book, The rest of the day i listen to Hurst review core content on my head phones over and over again. i didnt do Kaplan review because the book has all the info you need.
Every fourth day i would do a hurst Qbank test or Kaplan Qbank test to see what areas i would need to focus on to improve. i started out mostly in low 60s and by the end of the month i was in the high 90s.
I use to come on here and read how people failed and it scared me so the main reason i wanted to write this is because i wanted to change that negative mindset some people give. Its a test and thats it, it doesnt decide if you will be a good nurse or not (believe me where i work now we had a girl pass the nclex a few months ago and she lost her license by putting a tourniquet around someone's throat because the physician asked the nurse to "Prep the patient for a EJ" so no the test doesn't really know who will be a good nurses or not. oh and another girl i knew who flew by in school with straight As miscalculated giving a critical newborn 1000cc of NS instead of 10cc a hour and when asked she was like "it seemed right i thought". So go in knowing its just a test and you are the only one who will know if you will be a good nurse or not.
