Parenteral Admin of promethazine (sry this posted twice)

So as most of you know, IV Phenergan is vasotoxic and as such cannot be given with other meds, is supposed to be given over 1min IV or 2tmg per min(last I checked)and can cause tissue damage and is know to also cause gangrene etc if it doesn't all end up completely in a healthy vein.

But I'm curuous regarding IM... As our facility prefers to order it via that route if not in suppository or oral form.

My question is, can these adverse reactions to the tissue still occur when given IM... even if given deep IM on a major muscle (such as VG)in a patient with adequate muscle tissue. I always aspirate on IM injection, and do my best to use land marks to avoid nerves etc.

I know the injection still hurts when given IM properly, deep IM, with 0 blood flash back.

I mainly want to know so I can stop freaking out quite so much when I have to give it IM, even though I know I've followed proper procedure, I just do not want to end up with a necrotic site over t,

Also, this is my first post here, while I've 'stalked' the forums plenty before just to learn and see what is going on in the nursing community... and I'm glad to finally become a member of this group, and plan on posting soon in the 'male nurses' section, since I am a male, and also in the 'spiritual/religious forum since I don't currently really know what I am yet in that regard (I suppose agnostic would best currently describe my current 'outlook'... but I've pronounced 4 people I belive I'm the last 2.5 weeks, and these are the first patients I have physically pronounced myself.

TL/DR.... I am curious about tissue damage when giving 25mg of promethazine I'M.

Thanks for letting me a part of the community..
