Paramedic jumping back into RN school

U.S.A. Louisiana

Hey everyone, its been sometime since I have been on here. I would like to say a lot has happened with my endeavors of completing my BSN degree that I have initially attempted to complete in 2008. Since the nursing school I attended told myself to obtain another certification, I have obtained my paramedic licenses and have enjoyed doing this line of work for the time being. However, everytime I do bring in a patient to a local hospital here in Baton Rouge in which I see old classmates of mine from nursing school, it makes me think I need to get back in to complete my BSN. Only thing I am worried about is having to go thru the academic appeal process thrun the nursing school board. At the time I was a 1st semester senior nursing student and just couldn't get OB theory for whatever reason it was. However since then, I have matured a lot and have obtained both my basic and paramedic certification. I believe I have gained a lot of street knowledge being a medic and all, but when I was a paramedic student working in the hospital, I was comfortable in that realm. I had to remember that I was not a nursing student, but I remember telling a nurse don't worry I'll chart that for you, and she gave me a stare and raised eyebrows . She thought I was crazy, but I told her my story and all, and she understood finally. But with all that I have been through so far and obstacles that have challenged me, I believe I am ready to go back to finish that BSN. I believe having the certifications I have obtained being a paramedic will help in the decision from the board and hope that I can accomplish my initial goals of becoming a RN.
