Paramedic headed to Rasmussen

Specialties CNM

Published

Hello,

I am a paramedic headed for a huge change and I can't be more excited. I have completed all the prerequisites for the ADN program in Green Bay WI. I will be starting in January and only be taking the nursing theory. I came to all nurses to read up on the decision I already made for reinforcements. Boxes are packed and I am looking for housing for the 12mo. of school ahead of me. However, I am not finding recent opinions on Rasmussen or even positive ones from the older posts. Are there any former students that could give me some advice. Thoughts on the program, how to make the best of this experience, or even where the best place to live is located.

Thank you!

Hey! Congrats on getting into school! Of course every school is what you make it but I personally graduated from in Ocala, FL and I had a good experience. Of course it was challenging and I do recommend that you don't work once clinical's start so that you can really focus. After I graduated with my ADN I did the Hurst Review which I REALLY RECOMMEND!! I took my boards two weeks after that and got my first nursing job two weeks after that! I had no trouble finding a BSN program and now I am in school for my MSN! You are going to do great! My last advice for nursing in general is not to get confused with your "paramedic brain". Nursing assessments and critical thinking skills are completely different than Paramedics/EMT's. So excited for you!!

Thank you so much! I will do my best to stuff my paramedic brain away for the course. Thank you for the tip regarding the Hurst Review. Congrats on gettting your MSN! May I ask what your ocus is in? My goal is CNM.
