Hi everyone! I'm currently in nursing school getting an ADN, with plans to transfer into a BSN program. The chem class sequence required is "Principles of Inorganic Chem" and then "Principles of Organic Chem & Biochem"
Just wondering if anyone knows what I can expect. I've heard Organic Chem is dreadful, so I'm feeling a little bit intimidated.
Also: If anyone has any self-study book recommendations. I actually bought "Organic Chemistry As a Second Language: First Semester Topics" by David Klein, but I'm not sure if this is going to be the right book for me, as I've heard there are different organic chemistry classes.

Luckily, I only have to take one chemistry class for my BSN pre reqs. It's "Intro to inorganic, organic and biochem." From what I understand this class is more of a survey class. We'll be touching on a lot of different chemistry topics but, obviously, not going into the detail that a traditional chem sequence (2inorganics, 2organics, 2 biochems) would even scrape the surface of. In face my professor for A&P I last semester said it was the easiest of the chemistrys. Right now, since I'll be taking the TEAS before I take this chem class, I am on Khan Academy working through the basic chemistry videos. It really is a great resource, I can't speak highly enough of it. Good luck!
Thanks so much! I love Khan Academy and that's actually a great idea, going through the basic chem videos. I'll definitely do that. Good luck to you too!

I just finished Intro to Organic/Biochem last spring and it really wasn't too bad at all. The hardest part for me was keeping all of the (many, many) chemical reactions of the various functional groups straight, though that's really going to come down to taking good lecture notes and keeping up with the reading. If you want to get a leg up before the semester begins I would suggest going over the names and structures of functional groups to prepare you for the organic portion, and for biochemistry review the structures and functions of macromolecules (carbohydrates, lipids, proteins - my notes from physiology were very helpful). Good luck!
