Hello, everyone!

I am a OR nurse in Canada with 1+ year of experience in OR, 6 year in med surg, have all papers to work in US, planning to relocate to SF bay area. I have only contacted the Stanford hospital, and UCSF hospital so far, no feedback. I would like to know the hospital information in San francisco, especially for OR nurse. Could anyone give me some help? Thanks!

Hi, just a few quick notes about Cali. I was in SFO for a 3 month travel assignment and then moved on to the central coast(south). I met many travellers in my year in California and most seemed to concur, that you need to work for a big corp. if you are going to live there. Kaiser hospitals tend to pay the best for full time perm positions. Although I didn't get the opportunity, I tried a couple of times to get on with Kaiser Oakland. According to most travellers, they liked that one best to work. Stanford, from what I heard is not the greatest place to work (they ALWAYS have OR positions, on all shifts, which is a bit of a red flag) and, the pay isn't the best. The cost of housing in the Bay area is astronomical so your pay is important. Parking is expensive and very sporifice. If you need to know anything about being a traveller, email me. I can give you a few ideas. SFO is my most favourite place to visit, and live, if I could afford it! Best of luck with your endevours.
