Online PreReq suggestions?

I would recommend looking for a local community college... probably aren't going to qualify for financial aid when taking only 2 courses.

Portage!! I just signed up for A&P I. A lot of pre-nursing students use this website to finish prerequisites. Way cheaper than going to a community college. Counts as an accredited university because it's through Geneva College. Check out their website

Nice idea but that doesn't look cheaper than community college. o.O (At least the community college near me is cheaper.) Plus you can't get fin aid from them.

My community college (Ivy Tech) is $140.61/a credit 3 credits=$421.83

1 class at Portage= $594

In-state/local community college is usually one of the cheapest/easiest options for knocking out pre-reqs and many have online courses or non-traditional hours for classes available. The community college I went to required full-time enrollment for financial aid, but anyone could apply to be put on a payment plan rather than lump sum for tuition. Tuition and fees were roughly $500 per 5 credit course.

If you're looking for something a little more self-paced, and 100% online then I definitely recommend Portage. You have a year to finish after completing the first module. Good option for those working full time/with kids

If money is an issue for you, I would highly recommend you to take a look at the College Level Examination Program (CLEP). You can study the material at your own pace and take the test whenever you are ready. Go to Modern States – Freshman Year for Free and sign up for the available courses. Most of the first year college courses are available for free such as psychology, biology, chemistry, English I and II, etc... They will even reimburse you with the testing fee if you pass the test first time. I studied and passed intro psychology and developmental psychology. I spent about 3 weeks on each class. The CLEP program saves you a lot of time and money. Most schools will accept CLEP credits. In addition, some nursing schools will not take transfer credits from an online school. You have to check with the nursing school before you sign up for online classes. I hope this helps.

How hard was the intro to psych CLEP exam? I was thinking of doing that after I took one of the courses they offer.

I also did this for Psychology and Human Growth and Development. Modern States reimbursed all fees. One thing I did to help me study after I completed the Modern States courses, was get a cheap college text book (older edition & used) on amazon and went thru chapter summaries. Anything that wasn't clear I read up on. There are also CLEP exam study guides available and on the website they will list text books that they recommend to go along with each subject.

The Intro to Psychology exam is quite easy. I haven't tried the Modern States program, but I was able to pass that CLEP with just the REA guide ($20 or less on Amazon). The Human Growth and Development CLEP was much tougher for me, but I was still able to pass it with a 66 with about $100 of prep materials and a couple of weeks of intense studying.

I don't think it's way cheaper or even cheaper at all. My CC charges $89 per credit hour. You do have to add all the other semester fees that a regular school charges, but if you take more than 1 class, those fees are spread out. Even with one class, I believe the CC is cheaper. Again, the community college in your are may be different.

For me, I have done A&P1, A&P 2 and chem 101 online and they mail you everything. I completed a brain, an eye, a kidney, a heart and a fetal pig dissection on top of the chem labs ! It's not easy but it works!
