Ok I just found out that VCU offers a course called: NRSA403-Foundations for Medicinal Chemistry. They offer this course through their campus if you have not had an undergraduate chem class and need one which is required for their program.
I am asking everybody's opinion that do you believe this course will be good enough requirement for other schools in case I don't get into VCU's school?
Not sure where you are located but Penn State has an on line program called "world campus". It can be accessed through their website psu.edu. I know that they have an organic chemistry class because I was thinking about taking it. I have taken several courses through the world campus and I really liked how everything was setup and organized. Good luck.
I just took Survey of Organic and Biochemistry as a hybrid course. All of the course lectures and homework assignments were online and the labs and exams were every Saturday morning from 9a-12p. It worked out well with my schedule and several full-time RNs and working mothers were in the class. I would look into the community colleges in your area if this is something that interests you.
Also,Lansing Community College offers Statistics online. Good luck.
I have just completed VCU's Med Chem online course... great course- very well laid out with good texts, excellent video lectures, and comprehensive evaluation measures. The best aspect is that is covers concepts from inorganic and organic chemistries, and biochemistry. VCU Dept of Nurse Anesthesia has indicated that the online course will more than suffice for its chemistry requirement, although no credit is granted (CEU's, however, are given). I guess the question remains: will other universities honor it for advanced chemistry preparation? I think that it is most likely on a university-to-university basis.

i would highly recommend (or be very cautious) to not take courses like orgo or biochem within the community college setting. remember that this is a graduate program you are looking to get into, and they will most likely tell you to complete at least a university undergrad level course. this level is near the ability and aptitude that an applicant should be at. best case, ask the school(s) you are interested in and they should be more than happy to answer that.
Univ. of New England offers biochemisty and organic chemistry online with a virtual lab. I faxed the coorifice description to the school where I am applying and the program director said the online course there meets the requirement. The course is approx. 16 weeks and the cost is $1190 including books and lab fees.

I am planning on taking organic chemistry and possibly biochemistry. My delemma is that if I take these courses at the university I'm near its 2 days a week about 1hr 15min per day and then the lab alone is 4 hours on another day (and thats just the organic course). What I'm asking is will it be fine to just take these courses online considering that the schools I'm applying to do not require a lab. Or should I just tough it out and do the actual classes. The online courses would make it alot easier on me with my work schedule and personal life.
Please any tips or opinions would be great.
