online BSN programs

I have been looking at online ADN to BSN programs but there are so many out there! Any advice on how to narrow my choices or what to look for?

I recommend choosing one that is run by a school that also has a brick and mortar campus program in nursing and also a strong reputation within the nursing community. In the long run, your credentials may be more respected if they come from a school that other people have heard of and that has a good overall reputation.

I would also look for a program that had a curriculum that appealed to me. You'll be a much happier student if you are taking classes that you want to be taking.

Also, I would take a closer look at any school at which you know someone else that is going there or has recently gone there. Having an upperclassman as a resource person to "show you the ropes" can be a big advantage.

Finally, I would take a closer look at a school in which the brick and mortar campus was located in a place that I could reasonably visit (within a day's drive ... a quick and inexpensive plane trip ... etc.). It's not that you will need to go there frequently, but it's something that you might want to do once or twice at key points of the program. That's another advantage to a program that also has a brick and mortar version. If there are any problems that you need to resolve ... or if you would like to have a sit-down meeting with your advisor ... etc. ... it would be nice if you at least had the option of actually going to the school and meeting with the people involved.

Good luck.

I am finishing my last 2 classes at Slippery Rock University. It is an online BSN program. I think it is wonderful. I would recommend it to anyone.

I'm not sure which state you live in, but I know that many NC Universities offer completely online ASN to BSN programs. You could probably check links for the university nearest you.

I'm wondering if anyone has insight into an online BSN program. I hate to call them and then get umteen phone calls from them later. I just want some info as to how expensive and the overall time the curriculum can be completed with a ADN

MUSC has a good reputation and an online RN to BSN program. They do require one week on campus before the start of the program though, but I think thats a great bonus because I love Charleston, SC. :) If you go to their website you can find all about the curriculum. I'm not sure on the price tag though.
