Hi all,
I will be start working on an oncology floor in a couple of weeks. This is my first job. I am really looking forward to it. It is the floor I put in for. I was curious if anyone could recommend some basic oncology books that would benefit me? I purchased "Oncology Nursing Secrets" already. Anyone have suggestions?
Thanks,
Erik

I highly recommend "Psychosocial Nursing Care Along The Cancer Continuum, Second Edition". It is published by the Oncology Nursing Society and I believe it costs $45. It is a wonderful investment as RN's/LVN's/CNA's get to learn how to furthur provide therapeutic interventions for patients experiencing cancer-related trauma and other emotional problems. I personally have utilized some of the interventional stratagies in the book with better patient communication of needs, fears, hopes, regrets, and desires. :lol2:
