Once VA HR initially offers the position---

Published

I was just notified by the HR of one of the two site interviews completed four days ago that I have been accepted for the position pending a physical and "blocking." I understand this is a standard process and can take a couple of months. Is it not unheard of to get another offer after the first initial acceptance and carry both positions to the point of a salary offer and then decide between the different offers? I am new to the VA and a job hopping RN for the past 18 years. I would appreciate input.

Congratulations..So Far. Youve got your foot in the door but have a long road ahead of you. I do not want to discourage you, but you should be aware that "Job hopping RN for the past 18 years," is going to kick your butt when it comes to VetPro credentialing.

You will be asked to provide everywhere you have worked & lived--going back to nursing school: names, addresses, phone #'s, references for all. You can help expedite the process by having your Official Transcripts ready and notifying your references to be checking the mail. Good Luck

Well, they are having me block for the position now. I was electronically fingerprinted and scheduled a courtesy physical after submitting Vet Pro. Some of my references have been contacted. I was told that once I block and get a salary, I can give my two weeks notice and have a specific start date.

It sounds like you are cruising right along... Typically the references are the longest part as they snail mail the forms. Have you turned in your official transcripts?

I submitted my transcripts uploaded with my application on USA Jobs. The big hang up is scheduling a courtesty physical at my current area VAMC. I have already done my electronic fingerprints. The other process is transpiring across the continent at another VAMC. I could be blocking for two positions at the same time.
