On a Positive Note

I understand that discussion boards serve as an arena for people to vent, communicate - share their experiences.

Unfortunately, I have read a lot that is negative. Which is too bad because there are a lot of good stories out there -especially in nursing.

I finished my BSN almost 1 month ago. I have been an LPN for four years and did the bridge-in program. I have been working as an RN (temp) for 1 month in a job I worked previously as an LPN and I love it. It's going great. My peers are supportive, the work is diverse, autonomous and challenging. I have made some errors here and there and sometimes, I have been frustrated - but as a whole, it's a great work environment and I feel like I am growing into it.

I have worked in settings which have left me drained in the past and all I can recommend is to be persistent - keep educating yourself, revise that resume, harass the recruiters and take risks - talk to the managers and your friends manager. It's worth it.

There's another thing. Don't go for the closed door when there's an open window in front of you. Seize the opportunity when it's there.

I am happy to say that after four years, it still feels great to be a nurse. :nurse:
