On-line Nursing programs/State of Georgia

Published

Hello, I am a new poster to this discussion board. Currently, I am a Respiratory Therapist, 22 years exp(ICU, CVICU, ER, L&D, NICU-including neonatal transport) looking for some feedback on the non-traditional nursing programs. I started a BSN program 8 years ago and completed my first quarter before I found out that my husband and I would be having a baby. I went back to work as a FT RRT since I still had my extended medical benefits and insurance. I live in GA and understand that this state does not recognize the on-line programs for Allied Health Professionals to obtain a nursing degree. I believe that you can take the course and sit for the Boards in North or South Carolina and transfer your license to GA. Does anyone in GA have any experience in this area? Also, is anyone aware of any legislation to block tranferring licenses to GA? Thank you!!

Specializes in Gerontological, cardiac, med-surg, peds.

I would address these questions to the boards of nursing in Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Refer your inquiry to the education consultants at each BON. That way you will get the most accurate and up-to-date information. Best wishes in your career goals :)

Thank you for the information.....Do you have any personal experience or know of anyone who has been involved with these types of programs?
