Hello all,

First let me say I am happy to announce that I was finally selected for the Air Force Nurse Corps. Words do not explain my excitement but now I have lots and lots of planning to do.

As I am investigating housing I started wondering, if you are on-call and are called in to work, how much time do you have to get there? I need to know how far away I can live from base. Can anyone enlighten me?

It varies from facility to facility. If I am on avail I have one hour to report.

Remember to evaluate drive time depending on the area I actually only live 16 miles from Naval Medical Center San Diego and on a Sat morning at 0610 it takes 20 minutes but Tues at 0545 it can take up to 45 min.

Usually, you are required to live within an 1 hour from base, but exceptions are made on occassion.
