Olive View UCLA and LAC+USC interview LVN 1

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hey guys,

I had an initial interview with LAC+USC and received a letter that I passed the oral exam last November and would be placed on the LVN 1 eligibility list for one year.

Fast forward to last week...

After many calls and emails on my part. I was finally contacted by a nurse recruiter for Olive View UCLA Medical to interview for two separate LVN 1 positions; MedSurg & Outpatient (same day surg). I interviewed for both positions and was told if I was selected I would hear back from the HR department in 3-4 weeks or even sooner to complete a live scan and physical.

Two days after my interviews I was contacted by a separate nurse recruiter for LAC+USC to interview for a LVN 1 ER position at that facility. I have yet to go on this interview and I'm already starting to feel my nerves get the best of me because the ball is finally moving.

I have seen similar posts in other threads but none specifically directed towards LVN's so excuse me if i have posted this in the wrong section. Nevertheless has anyone else gone through this process or going through it now? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

hi! i had my oral exam today, for an RN position tho. How long after your initial interview did you get the letter?

Best of luck!!!

Can't give you specifics about the actual application process since I worked for the LAC-USC system as a registry worker but be ready to start quickly once the livescan is done. I had barely gotten back from the DHS facility after doing my livescan to start the next day. Nice to hear they are still hiring LVN's. For a while there they were doom and glooming it ( hence all the registry workers )

Congrats on passing the first step! Getting hired at County can be a really slow process! Counting from the date I first applied, I think it took about 2-3 months to get the first interview, another 1-2 months to get the selection interview, another month or so to hear I had the job, then another 3-4 months to complete the Livescan and hiring process before I actually started working.

Now that you're on the eligibility list for LVN I, you can apply to any County facility that is hiring for that position. Even if you don't get the first position you interview for, definitely stay in contact with the nurse recruiters at the facilities you're interested in working at and ask about any opportunities to interview and/or about any openings they may have (most openings are never published).

In my opinion, County is a great place to work. You'll get excellent training and get to experience things you won't typically see at other hospitals (especially in the LAC+USC ER). The starting pay for LVNs is probably below-average for Southern CA, but the employee benefits are awesome.

Here's a link to the DHS Nursing page, which has a link to an interview guide, vacancy announcements, and other stuff. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions. Good luck on your interview! :)
