OHSU vs Linfield ABSN

Published

Hey everyone! I was recently admitted to both OHSU and Linfield's accelerated nursing programs. I honestly only applied to Linfield as a backup... but now that I'm accepted to both this is a huge decision and I want to make sure I do my due diligence.

Can anyone, especially current or past students, share a bit about their experiences at either school and your overall opinion on which you think has the upper hand? Personally, I do best with a more intimate classroom size, a sense of community and support within the class, and definitely the more hands-on experience the better.

Let me say that my end goal in life is to continue on as an NP after working in the field for a few years as an RN (hence me leaning towards OHSU due to their stellar grad programs). Also, as of now, I'd like to work in the ICU as an RN.

Any help is suppppper appreciated!

Hi. Hope you made the right decision. Where did you end up going and why? My goals are the same and I was wondering if, even though it's 3 years vs 2 at Linfield for traditional bsn's, the OHSU route might benefit me in the long run once I plunge back into school for advanced nursing.

Hi, I ended up at OHSU and I'm so happy to be here. I actually toured Linfield and then walked around OHSU (I wasn't here for any official tours because I was living out of state at the time). The campuses are very different and gave me an idea of where I felt more comfortable (definitely moreso OHSU). There's also the fact that OHSU's clinicals are mostly at OHSU which is really great if you want to work there because you'll network a ton. No matter where you go you'll become a great nurse. I don't know as much about Linfield's classes, and again, I'm in the accelerated program not the 3 year here at OHSU, but I really appreciate OHSU's approach to nursing and I love the faculty.

Of course there's also networking opportunities if you want to become an NP.

Hopefully that helps. If you have any other questions let me know!
