OHSU current students & recent grads

Published

I'll be making my final decision at the end of this weekend between OHSU 3yr BSN and Linfield Summer 15mo ABSN. I'm SO excited to start this path of nursing! I hope current students/recent grads can respond firsthand about their OHSU experience. THANK YOU for taking the time!

After my BSN I want to do international relief work and pursue graduate school. If my interests don't shift during/after school, I'll need trauma exposure as well as ICU experience.

I'd love to know about any of the following:

1) The quality of the clinical rotations--how hands on, the variety of placements, if students get placed in their top choice, etc.

2) Retention/completion rate and job placement rate for the program--if students failed or left the program, what % of the class is offered a position at OHSU before graduation or shortly after, or how long it has taken to land a job at a different hospital.

3) The strengths of the faculty--are they skilled teachers, the level of support and availability to students, etc.

4) Is the overall vibe of the program/students ultimately positive--wanting and knowing there's room for each individual to be their best, or is it competitive in a dog-eat-dog sort of way?

5) In your opinion, do you believe the OHSU senior externship is worth the extra time spent in school, versus completing a BSN two years sooner?
