OHSU ABSN 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi,

I can’t find a thread for this program so figured I would start one. I was wondering if anyone has got a confirmation their application was received?

Chelsea

Hey all,

I just received an email yesterday for an invitation to an interview next week for the ABSN-FNP program.

So excited for us all!

I applied for the ABSN.

I applied for both!

Congratulations to everyone who got interviews!! Anyone here apply to the Ashland campus? I know the interview dates are later so notifications usually go out later too. I'm so anxious ?

I applied to the Portland campus!

Congrats to those of you who have been invited to interview. I applied and have not received an invitation. Commenting here so I keep in the loop! Good luck ?

@nataduma thanks for the info. Were they able to tell you your position on the waitlist when you called?

Does anyone have any idea what sort of questions will be asked during the interview? I have tried to look back on posts from previous years, but haven't found anything too helpful. Just curious how others are preparing for unknown questions.

Not super ethical to lay it all out there, but I would say to prepare the way you would for any job interview--think about experiences you've had in the past that demonstrate skills you have and difficult situations you've dealt with, and have some anecdotes that illustrate those things. Also, think about why you want to be a nurse and who may have inspired you along the way.

My feeling was that previous applicants are asked not to share the specifics. I am looking at common nursing school interview questions to help me think through my responses to those. I am mostly worried about the tell me about a time when.... types of questions. I need a bit of time to think.

Best of luck to us all! So excited!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to chime in to maybe calm a few nerves.

I know it can be overwhelming reading these forums and seeing all of the amazing experiences and acceptances other people have had. DON'T LET THAT CAUSE YOU TO DOUBT YOURSELF!

I was rejected from every other school I applied to other than OHSU, and after getting an interview offer and reading these forums, I was sure I was never going to get in. If I learned anything from the application and interview process, they are very thoughtful in their selections, and they really want to get a comprehensive picture of each candidate. So, just be authentic. Maybe you have never worked in healthcare before - you still have a wealth of non-healthcare experiences that you can (and will) take to your practice as a nurse! Don't doubt yourself and your experience in light of others - your unique experience holds so much value.

Best of luck to everyone here!

Totally. I assumed they constantly change questions anyways. I was just more curious how people were preparing. Good suggestion about thinking about past experiences. Having a few well-thought out examples seems like the best way to go. Thank you!

Oh good idea to look up common questions! Even if the questions aren't the same, that's a good way to start thinking through things! Thanks for the suggestion!
